Not every plastic or cosmetic procedure needs a hospital theatre. Plastic surgeons perform many smaller procedures in their rooms, and sedation can make these far more comfortable.
Procedures that may be suitable
Your plastic surgeon decides what can safely be done in the rooms. Examples may include:
- Minor reconstructive procedures and scar revisions
- Removal of skin lesions and cysts
- Some eyelid and small-area cosmetic procedures
- Minor hand procedures
Why in-rooms sedation?
- A calm, comfortable experience with local anaesthetic plus sedation
- No theatre booking, which can mean shorter waiting times
- Avoids hospital and theatre fees, which matters for cosmetic procedures that medical aids usually do not cover
- Same-day return home
Clear costs
Because many cosmetic procedures are self-funded, it helps to know the sedation cost upfront. Joburg Sedation publishes cash rates based on sedation time on our fees page. Remember that the sedation fee is separate from your surgeon’s fee.
Safety first
Every sedation is provided by a team of two: Dr Khan plus a registered nurse or second doctor, with continuous ECG, oxygen, heart rate and blood pressure monitoring and emergency equipment on site.
