Feeling informed is one of the best ways to feel calm before a procedure. These are good questions to ask your sedation practitioner. Write down the answers or have someone with you.
About the practitioner

- Will anyone else be monitoring me during the procedure?
- Which guidelines do you follow?
About the sedation
- What level of sedation will I have, and how will it be given?
- Will I remember the procedure?
- Is sedation in the rooms suitable for my health, or would a hospital be safer?
About preparation
- When should I stop eating and drinking?
- Should I take my usual medicines on the day, including blood thinners, diabetes medicines or inhalers?
- What should I wear and bring?
About safety
- How will I be monitored?
- What emergency equipment do you bring?
About recovery and cost
- How long will I need to stay after the procedure?
- When can I drive, work and exercise again?
- How will I be billed, and will you claim from my medical aid?
